Description
Mjolnir: The Hammer of Thor
In Norse mythology, Mjolnir is the name of the hammer carried by the Thunder God Thor. Distinctively shaped, Mjöllnir is depicted as one of the most fearsome weapons, capable of leveling mountains.
Thor’s Hammers were widely worn as amulets in the Viking era. Today they are worn by practitioners of Germanic Neopaganism worldwide as a symbol of their faith.
This contemporary styled Thor’s Hammer is inspired by the designs of Viking era artists and is cast in solid .925 sterling silver
Product Features
- Cast from approximately 11 grams of .925 Sterling Silver using the lost wax casting method
- measures 1 3/8 inches (35mm) high by 3/4 inches (19mm) wide
- It has a hole through the top which can accommodate a cord or chain up to 1/8″ (3mm) diameter
A warning about unauthorized reproductions:
Unauthorized copies of this Thor’s hammer pendant has been sold in many places. There is even a place in Thailand that is making terrible quality bootlegs of this in pewter. Apparently, some unethical thief purchased one of these hammers from the original artist, cast it, and began producing pirate copies.
In 2009, Whirling Sun has graciously been given the original molds and reproduction rights for this pendant by the original artist. If you buy this pendant from anywhere else, odds are it is a knockoff of inferior quality, workmanship, and detail. Like a bootleg cassette tape, with each generation away from the original master you get, the bootleg loses just a little bit of fidelity.
